About Kim

Experience

I have been a photographer for 20 years. My career has taken me across the globe, where I’ve documented the stories of over 70 coffee farms and the vibrant communities in Africa and Central America. I’ve had the privilege of working with top entrepreneurs, influential leaders, celebrities, Forbes 30 Under, and capturing the energy of major concerts. My commitment to versatility and impactful storytelling has been the foundation of my work. In 2015 I opened my portrait studio in Saugatuck/Douglas. I was the first portrait studio since Herbert Simonson had his Culver Street studio and his donkey named Dynamiteh from 1905 until his passing in 1951. I have felt honored to be here and I think of him often when I am photographing on Oval Beach. He used to go up and down Oval beach on his donkey and take pictures of people for twenty-five cents.

Education

I hold a college degree in Photo Technology, which has provided me with a strong foundation in the art and technical aspects of photography. I continually refine my skills and stay at the forefront of the industry through ongoing education and seminars.

I am well versed in advanced post processing techniques, ensuring each photo achieves the highest level of quality. Beyond technical proficiency, I excel at capturing genuine emotion and weaving compelling narratives through my lens. Whether I’m working on intimate portraits, vibrant event photography, or sophisticated commercial projects, I adapt seamlessly to meet the unique demands of every assignment.
